Stavely School Education Continuity Plan

Stavely School’s Education Continuity Plan

Curriculum

Stavely School Teachers continue to determine the skills and outcomes that are most essential for each grade. In general, our initial plan involves the following:

  • Kindergarten-Grade 3 will focus on literacy and numeracy;
  • Grades 4-6 will focus on literacy and numeracy and will extend to include science and social studies;
  • Approximate length of programming per student:
    • 5 hours of total work for kids in Grades K-6/week.
  • If you are facilitating the learning of multiple children in your home, please be in contact with your children’s teachers so they can give you a list of ‘must-do’s’.

Delivery

Learning will be a blend of online and offline experiences. To keep with AHS recommendations, we are trying to minimize all contact. When possible, please make sure to email, Google Classroom or use myBlueprint to return papers/assignments to the school as well. Your child(ren)’s teacher will give specific instructions on how to return assignments and is more than happy to work with you so we can give appropriate feedback to further learning. All families have been contacted and appropriate technology provisions have been put in place as needed to ensure learning can occur for all Stavely School students.

Assessment

Teachers will be assessing your child(ren)’s learning as we proceed. Most of the assessment will be in the form of feedback which can occur in a number of different ways. When it is time, they will request assignments to be submitted to them for a grade. All of these details will be emailed to parents prior to the due date.

Parents

Parents will play a key role in their child’s learning, including:

  • Ensuring your child is aware of procedures and instructions;
  • Monitoring technology use to ensure your child is adhering to the Digital Citizenship and E-Learning expectations;
  • Ensuring your child is completing work by due dates which are flexible and responsive to each student’s needs;
  • Reaching out to the school for guidance and support if your child is struggling;
  • Contacting your child’s teacher if you have questions.

Procedure for At-Home Learning

Initial Student Learning Package Pick-Up

  • To follow AHS COVID-19 recommendations, we are asking only healthy parents/guardians or designate to come to Stavely School Wednesday, March 25th, 2020 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to pick up your child(ren)’s learning envelope. If you are sending a designate to pick up your family’s envelopes, please email the school to let us know.
  • All student envelopes will be in the student entrance (north-west side of school), on a table in the appropriate classroom box. They are organized by surname.
  • To follow AHS recommendations for the exchange of paper products, these envelopes have been isolated for 4-5 days without human contact.

Subsequent Student Learning Package Pick-Up and Drop-Off

  • To follow AHS COVID-19 recommendations, we are asking only healthy parents/guardians or designate to come to Stavely School on the Monday of each week between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to pick up your child(ren)’s learning envelope. If you are sending a designate to pick up your family’s envelopes, please email the school to let us know.
  • Please return the previous envelope into the correct classroom box at the same time. Your teacher may have asked for an assignment or other evidence of learning to be returned as well. Please put it in that envelope and the teacher can pick it up before putting the next week’s learning package in there.
  • All student envelopes will be in the student entrance (north-west side of school), on a table in the appropriate classroom box. They are organized by surname.
  • To follow AHS recommendations for the exchange of paper products, these envelopes have been isolated for 4-5 days without human contact.

Classroom Procedures

  • Each classroom teacher will send a Week-At-A-Glance (WAAG) to parents/guardians and students (age-appropriate). If you do not receive an email by Wednesday, March 25th, please contact the school immediately.
  • Your child’s classroom teacher may also send a daily email to parents/guardians and students (age-appropriate) with a daily outline of learning activities, links, hand-outs etc. (Not all classes will receive this as it is at the discretion of the classroom teacher.) The WAAG will set the direction for the week for most classes.
  • Each classroom teacher will outline their office hours, how to best contact them and provide answers regarding their website, myBlueprint, etc. We’re here for you and completely available to answer any questions. Please do not hesitate to ask questions either. It helps us provide the best learning opportunities for your child(ren).
  • Please bookmark your teacher’s websites for easy access each day.
