About

Stavely Elementary School is located on the southeast corner of the Town of Stavely.

Introduction

The Town of Stavely is a thriving town of approximately 500 residents and growing.  Located between Lethbridge and Calgary, an hours drive from either on Hwy 2, Stavely is surrounded by ideal ranching and farming areas.  Rolling prairies to the east and foothills to the west include camping areas, fishing and hiking trails.  Newcomers to the town and area will welcome the openness, friendliness and community spirit that the residents of Stavely pride themselves on

The Town of Stavely was named for Alexander Staveley Hill, Managing Director of the Oxley Ranching Company that was formed in 1882.  With the influx of settlers, the bow-car stop and tent-town, we progressed to the status of a village in 1903 and to a town in 1912.

Principal

Ms. Leanne Watson is a long-time and very proud Stavely resident. Her very first teaching position was in A. J. Nowicki School in Stavely, AB teaching the grade 8/9 class. Leanne enjoyed teaching in Stavely so much that she moved here and continued her teaching career in Livingstone Range School Division.

Leanne's two daughters, Ella and Hannah, also attended Stavely School, loving their learning and life experiences here. Although Ella and Hannah have moved post-secondary and high school (respectively), they regularly come back to help out with extra-curricular events.

Leanne completed her Masters in Education in the area of Curriculum and Assessment and uses this knowledge to facilitate PD whenever possible for staff. It is Leanne's goal as an administrator to provide a framework to facilitate the growth of the engaged, ethical and entrepreneurial student.  By infusing the framework of the school with a culture of care, students are more likely to delve into the competencies, ranging from critical thinking to personal growth and well-being, all of which will improve achievement results.  Students’ passion for learning increases when they feel a sense of belonging and connection to the school as well as to the targeted construct. By providing sound instructional leadership through professional development and collaboration, administration, teachers and students will create a system rich in learning resulting in improved achievement.

Mission

Where every student shines.

Vision

It is important to educate students in their own community. We value and respect individual differences. We want our children to receive a 21st century education that prepares them to be responsible global citizens. School must be a warm inviting learning environment where the whole child is nurtured to be the best that they can be. The school is a focal point in the community. We value integrity and honest-open communication. Parents are an integral component to education. We believe that celebration of success is important.
