Nanton Schools Decanting Update June 2025

As the Nanton New & Modernized Schools project moves forward, we are pleased to share the updated decanting plan with our school community.

Beginning at the end of June 2025, division and school staff will pack and move classroom materials, school equipment, furniture, and supplies out of A.B. Daley Community School, which will be prepared for modernization. During the summer of 2025 work will be done to prepare the current J.T. Foster High School as the primary decanting space for the next two years.

Administrators and staff will return to school the week of August 25, 2025 to prepare for students’ first day of classes on September 2. Classroom spaces will be located as follows:

Bussing

  • All students who qualify for bussing under Alberta Education’s updated distance thresholds will continue to be bussed to J.T. Foster.
  • Grade 5/6 students will then be transported from J.T. Foster to Nanton United Church. At the end of school these students will be bussed from Nanton United Church back to J.T. Foster and will get on their regular bus to travel home.
  • The dropoff and pick-up at Nanton United Church will be north of the church on 21 Street.
  • The area around the United Church (including Highway 2 southbound) will be designated a School Zone with reduced speed limits.
  • Clearly designated bus zones along 24 Ave in front of the J.T. Foster building will allow for safe transportation of students throughout the day. We ask parents and the public to avoid these bus zones at all times.
